Our History

  • 1976
    Creation of Itafran in Carqueiranne (France / 83 – VAR) During this decade, the manufacture of sprockets and drive chains is relocated to Italy and Eastern European countries. Itafran assists manufacturers to facilitate the supply of their factories.
  • 1981
    Rapidly appreciated for its commercial know-how and mechanical expertise, Itafran accelerated its development by setting up in Lyon, a major European crossroads for road, rail and air links.
  • 1991
    Takeover of Itafran by Charles Le Goff. The industrial emergence of Asia is spectacular. A partnership agreement, still in force, is signed in China with a world leader in the manufacture of gears and pinions. Itafran will continue to develop a very close relationship based on trust, particularly with the main Chinese factories, which are now world leaders for many mechanical transmission components.
  • 1992
    The surface area of the premises is doubled...300 m²!
  • 1993
    A first consequent stock is set up and the workshop is equipped with a chain cutting machine...700 m² !
  • 1994
    The responsiveness of Itafran's service gives a boost to sales: the company moves and builds its first 2,000 m² platform.
  • 1995
    The irreproachable quality of the products is already at the heart of the company's culture. Itafran opens a technical office in Hangzhou (China / Zhejiang province) to control the conformity of each manufacture.
  • 1996
    2nd platform built in Dijon (21 – Côte d’Or)
  • 1997
    Introduction of the trapezoidal pulley range.
  • 2000
    Logistics partnership with bearing manufacturer NSK Creation of a 4,000 m² platform in Corbas (69 - Rhône).
  • 2001
    Acquisition of competitor Modatec.
  • 2003
    Logistic partnership with the belt manufacturer TEXROPE
  • 2004
    Creation of eCommerce website. ITAFRAN is already the French leader for mechanical transmission components.
  • 2006
    Introduction of the asynchronous motor range.
  • 2008

    Acquisition of the pulley and timing belt manufacturer BDK (68- Upper Rhine)

    Acquisition of Stock Parisud (95 – Val d’Oise)

    Nov. 2008
    Acquisition of the PIV factory, manufacturer of mechanical variable speed drives and angular gearboxes.

    Acquisition of a new industrial site (69 – Rhône)

    Acquisition of the hobbing workshop METALE (69- Rhône)

    Acquisition of MERGER, manufacturer of high-power gearboxes (67- Bas-Rhin)

    July 2014
    Acquisition of AEP, manufacturer of very high precision gears for aeronautic engines (69- Rhône)
  • 2015
    Acquisition and construction of a logistics platform of 10.000 m².
  • 2016
    Acquisition of the REMY BARRERE factory, manufacturer of very high precision and very large gears for marine and railway engines. (42- Loire).
  • 2018
    Consolidation of industrial and logistics activities in the Lyon industrial zone (69 – Corbas).
